WESTON, Conn. Lyle Mitchell scored three goals and goalie Grant Limone made 16 saves en route to winning MVP honors as Westons boys' lacrosse team won its first South-West Conference championship Friday with an 8-6 win against Joel Barlow at Newtown High School.
Weston, which lost to Barlow, 11-1, during the regular season, won its fifth straight game.
Limone also scored a goal for Weston (15-4), which is seeded fourth for the upcoming Class S tournament. Barlow (15-3) is the top seed for the tournament. The teams face a potential meeting in the semifinals if they each can win their first two games.
Sean Fumai and Jack Scheufele added two goals apiece for Weston. Matt Brooks had two assists, whle Peter Robbins had one.
