EASTON, Conn. Its been absent for several years, but the seniors at Joel Barlow High School are bringing a much-loved tradition back to the Easton and Redding shared high school: The Senior Show.
The theatrical production of The End is a comedic performance written solely by the senior class and pokes fun at the quirks at Barlow, while simultaneously looking back at the four years the Class of 2012 spent together.
The performance is led by seniors Doug Streat, Jack Morris and Gayle Powell, who are working in conjunction with the Senior Class Council to get The End up on the stage.
Streat hopes to get as many seniors involved as possible in the performance,
"Though I have always been heavily involved in theater during high school, many students have not had the opportunity, he said. One of the things that I think is great about the Senior Show is that it welcomes any and all seniors with or without experience to take part in a full-scale, enjoyable production."
As rehearsals for The End begin in the next few weeks, the senior class is looking for donations of Barlow-related T-shirts and Barlow spirit apparel, old or new. This includes old senior shirts, athletic clothing, event-specific shirts, school dance apparel, homecoming apparel, theater shirts and anything else related to Barlow. It doesn't matter if it's tattered, torn or stained. They need nearly 300 items of clothing for this project so they welcome any and all donations and loans.
Donations can be placed, as is, in a box located in the front office. All donations, large and small, are welcome given the scale of this project.
"This production is incredibly unifying for our class, Powell said. I can only hope that the audience will enjoy watching it as much as I enjoy being a part of it."
The show will have three performances at 7 p.m. March 15-17 in the Joel Barlow High School auditorium. Tickets are $10 for students and faculty and $15 for adults.
