Woman Faces DUI Charge In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. — A 48-year-old Middlebury woman was arrested on a drunken driving charge in Westport on Wednesday after officers responded to a report of a disabled vehicle at the intersection of North Avenue and Cross Highway, police said.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle completely up on the shoulder of the roadway and sidewalk area, the arrest report said. The driver, identified as Carolyn Laliberte, smelled of alcohol and was asked to perform roadside sobriety tests, which she failed, police said.

Laliberte was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper parking. Unable to post a $1,500 bond, she was held for arraignment at Norwalk Superior Court. She is due back in court on Sept. 19.
