Additionally, Officer James Baker III was promoted to the rank of detective, after several retirements from the police force.
New Wesport Officer Scott Aliberti, 42, was previously the director of dance at Sacred Heart University where he developed the school’s first and very successful dance program.
Not long after leaving Sacred Heart University, Aliberti got his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate from Stone Academy in Waterbury, allowing him to start working with the public and communities throughout Fairfield and New Haven counties.
Along with holding his EMT certificate, Aliberti graduated Sacred Heart University, Cum Laude, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. He resides in Fairfield with his family.
New Westport Officer Tyler Stevens, 30, graduated from the Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture.
Officer Stevens comes to the Westport Police Department from EMCOR Facilities Services, where he was an in-house Maintenance Technician for Bridgewater Associates, LP. Officer Stevens resides in Seymour with his wife, Katie.
The third new Wesport police officer, Mark Grasso recently retired from the Connecticut State Police with more than 20 years experience.
He served as a patrol trooper out of the Bethany, Westport, and Bridgeport barracks, and as a detective with the Western District Major Crime Squad, the FBI – Connecticut Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Grasso was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2006.
Officer Grasso has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Nichols College. Additionally, he has a Master of Science degree in Fire Science with a concentration in Fire and Arson Investigation and a Graduate Certificate in Public Management from the University of New Haven. Grasso resides in Orange, CT with his wife, Kelly, and their 7-year-old triplets, Sofia, Luca, and Gabriella.
Detective James Baker III was hired as a patrolman in 2009 with the Fairfield Police Department.
Detective Baker joined the Westport Police Department in 2013 and is a third generation Westport Police Officer. His grandfather, Joseph McAleenan, was a retired Westport Police Lieutenant and the first Chief of the Weston Police Department. His father, James Baker Jr., is a retired Westport Police Detective.
Detective Baker holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He resides in Norwalk with his wife, Kristen, and two sons, J.J. and Charlie.
