A man is facing numerous charges after police say he choked a victim and broke their iPhone during a dispute in Westport.
Westport Police say they received a report from a victim of a physical dispute on Tuesday, Oct. 8 around 6:40 p.m.
The victim claimed that what had started as a "heated verbal exchange" between himself and Henry Rapp had quickly turned into a physical confrontation, police say.
The victim told police that Rapp had pushed him down and choked him, making it difficult for him to breathe. Rapp also allegedly engaged in verbal abuse and threw the victim’s iPhone to the ground, causing the screen to crack on impact.
When interviewed by police, Rapp allegedly gave a similar version of events but denied choking the victim.
Based on the investigation, Rapp was arrested later that evening and charged with third-degree strangulation, second-degree threatening, disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was arraigned at Norwalk Superior Court on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
