Man Charged With Identity Theft In Stolen Credit Card Case In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport police have arrested a 29-year-old Hartford man on identify theft charges after he tried to use credit cards stolen in Westport at a Target in Windsor.

Anthony Harris was captured on video surveillance at Target purchasing over $1,000 in merchandise through several transactions in July 2015, police said.

The credit cards were stolen out of vehicles in Westport, police said. New Canaan police were able to positively identify Harris, who is suspected of committing similar crimes in that town, according to officials.

Westport detectives went to Norwalk Superior Court to serve an arrest warrant on Harris, who was appearing for an unrelated charge on Friday, May 27, police report.

Harris was charged with identity theft and conspiracy to commit identity theft, police said.

His bond was set at $2,500, police said.
