WESTPORT, Conn. - Joan Cottingham of Westport died Aug. 20. She was 86.
Cottingham was born Nov. 18, 1926, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She worked as a promotional writer at several major television networks. She later moved to the Westport area. She was employed as a case researcher for Blue Cross/Blue Shield at St. Joseph's Hospital in Manhattan until her retirement.
Cottingham is survived by her niece, Heidi Best of Ithaca, N.Y.; and nephews, Steven (Ellen) Best and David Best of Henrietta, N.Y.; two grandnieces; a grandnephew; and many friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Cottingham; sister, Ruth Cottingham Best; and her nephew, Stuart Cottingham.
A memorial gathering will be held by the family at a later date.
