Alvarez was born Feb. 9, 1948, in Bogota, Colombia, son of Misael and Isabel (Rincon) Alvarez. He moved to the United States when he was 17 and has been a resident of Westport for the past 30 years. He worked as a tax accountant.
Alvarez is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Jason Alvarez of Westport; a daughter, Katherine DiLeo (Rocco) of West Harrison, N.Y.; a brother, Misael Alvarez (Karin); and sisters, Margo Alvarez and Julia Alvarez all of Bogota. He was predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours are Tuesday, April 23, from 5 to 9 p.m.. in the Harding Funeral Home 210 Post Road, E., Westport. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 24, at 10 a.m. meeting directly at St. Luke Church 49 Turkey Hill Road, N., Westport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 73 Greens Farms Road, Westport.
