Dan R. Osterhout, 63, Of Weston, Finance And Insurance Executive

WESTON, Conn. - Dan R. Osterhout of Weston died Friday, Aug. 23. He was 63.

Osterhout was born in Sharon, Pa., son of Donald and Phyllis Osterhout, he had been a Weston resident for the last 16 years. He received a BA from the University of Baltimore and a Master Degree in Finance from Loyola University. He was the managing director of Community Senior Capital, a wealth-management firm. Prior to this position, he served in a number of senior executive positions at Aon Corporation. He served as president and chief executive officer of the U.S. operations of Swiss Re New Markets. He also held a variety of senior positions with Alexander & Alexander. His career spanned 30 years in the insurance industry.

Osterhout is survived by his wife, Cathy; sons, Jason Osterhout of Burlington, Vt., Brandon Osterhout of San Francisco, Calif., and Jordan Osterhout of Weston; three grandchildren;  brothers, Thom (Carol) Osterhout of Fort Myers, Fla., Bob (Linda) Dear of Ellicott City, Md., Denny (Peggy) Dear of Columbia, Md.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, David and Scott Osterhout.

Calling hours are Thursday, Aug. 29 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. A prayer service and celebration of Osterhout's life will begin at 4 p.m. Interment will be private.
