Woman Faces DUI in Westport After Rollover

Norwalk resident Claudia Munoz was lucky to walk away uninjured after wrecking her car in Westport, but she wasn't lucky enough to dodge a DUI charge.

Police said Munoz, 20, was involved in a one-car rollover at Newtown Turnpike and Twin Oaks Lane early Wednesday. When officers arrived, they smelled alcohol on Munoz's breath. She failed field sobriety tests and was charged with operating under the influence, failure to drive right and failure to carry proof of insurance. She is due in court March 14.

Also from the police blotter:

• Southport resident Annay Vette Caran-Fried, 36, turned herself in to Westport police Feb. 24 after learning there were several warrants out for her arrest. Police said the warrants stemmed from multiple incidents in January in which Caran-Fried wrote bad checks at Cellar Workshop Fine Jewelry, Indego Spa, Garelick & Herbs and First Nails and Spa. She is scheduled to appear in court March 21.
