What's Happening This Week in Easton

EASTON, Conn. – With most schools on vacation this week in Easton, there are several family friendly events happening in and around town. Here are some of the highlights:

Tuesday:

Noon: “Kung Fu Panda 2” hits the screen at the Weston Public Library this afternoon as part of the "Family Film Series" happening throughout the week. Every day there is a new film at noon until around 1:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to stay with their children during the film and also have a lunch or snack packed for your child.

2:15 p.m.: Children ages 3 and up can listen to short stories followed by an educational visit from the Tooth Fairy at the Easton Public Library.

Wednesday:

10:30 a.m.: Get the little ones moving at the Easton Public Library’s "Baby/Toddler Be-Bop Movement Class." The exercise is open to children six to 36 months. It will run for about 25 minutes and incorporates popular children’s songs, finger plays and simple stories while utilizing props such as puppets, musical instruments and rhythm sticks.

Noon: “Lady and the Tramp” will play at the Weston Public Library this afternoon as part of the "Family Film Series" happening throughout the week.  Every day there is a new film at noon until around 1:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to stay with their children during the film and also have a lunch or snack packed for your child.

4 p.m.: Let your child’s creative juices flow during the Easton Public Library’s "Arts and Crafts" program. Kids in kindergarten through second grade are invited to create a winter foil picture they can take home and enjoy.

7 p.m.: Political pundits Tucker Carlson and Eugene Robinson discuss the 2012 presidential election in a joint talk at Sacred Heart University's Edgerton Center.  Tickets are $35. For information please, visit www.edgertoncenter.org.

Thursday:

Noon: “Soul Surfer” will be shown this afternoon at the Weston Public Library as part of the "Family Film Series" happening throughout the week.  Every day there is a new film at noon until around 1:30 p.m. Parents are encouraged to stay with their children during the film and also have a lunch or snack packed for your child.

2:15 p.m.: Robert the Guitar Guy is coming to the Easton Public Library to share his songs with kids ages 3 and up.

8 p.m.: Second generation rock royalty Wilson Phillips takes the stage at the Ridgefield Playhouse. This trio includes Chynna Phillips, daughter of Michelle and John Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas and Carnie and Wendy Wilson whose father is famed Beach Boy Brian Wilson. Wilson Phillips shot to fame in 1990, with the release of their first album. Three of its songs became #1 hit singles, including "Hold On," "Release Me," and "You're in Love.” Later this month, their new album, "Dedicated" will be released.
