Two Teens Cited for Alcohol in Easton

EASTON, Conn. – A 17-year-old Easton girl and a 17-year-old boy from Redding each received infractions for possession of alcohol by a minor after an Easton police officer found them with alcohol at Helen Keller Middle School.

According to police, on Feb. 1 at 1:08 a.m., an officer on a routine patrol of the middle school spotted the teens standing in the upper parking lot between two cars. The officer found a 40-ounce bottle of beer underneath one of the vehicles. Both teens received citations and were brought to police headquarters, where they were released to their parents.

The teens also had their driver's licenses confiscated and suspended for 48 hours, according to police. The infraction is a $136 mail-in fine.

Emily E. Dunne, 22, of Fairfield, was charged with driving under the influence on Feb. 4 after she lost control of her vehicle and hit an embankment, according to police.

Police said an officer who was on patrol found Dunne, inside her vehicle, on Route 59 near Center Street at 11:52 p.m. The car, which had come to a stop, had the horn blaring and the air bags deployed. Police determined that Dunne's vehicle had swerved into the southbound lane, hit an embankment and then came to rest in the northbound lane.

Dunne failed a field sobriety test, police said, and was transferred to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for injuries sustained in the accident. She was charged with traveling at an unreasonable speed and failure to drive in the proper lane. She was released on a written promise to appear in court Feb. 14.
