String of 7 Burglaries Hits Town

Seven Easton homes were burglarized last weekend, with items stolen including thousands of dollars in jewelry and a baseball bat signed by Yankees star Derek Jeter. The break-ins began last Friday at a home on Barrows Road, which had the door forced in, according to police. The rest of the crimes occurred last Saturday and Sunday.

Just after midnight on Saturday morning, a home on Bayberry Lane was broken into through an unlocked back door. A bedroom was ransacked, a tool box was searched and jewelry was stolen. Four additional burglaries on Saturday included break-ins on Stonesthrow Road, North Park Avenue, Tatetuck Trail and Grace View Drive. Of the items stolen in the homes included a jewelry box and fireworks, and in one home, an estimated $5,200 in jewelry and $1,250 worth in signed baseball bats, including the one signed by Jeter.

Sunday evening, burglars gained entrance to a home on Cross Bow Lane, but an alarm sounded before any items could be taken. There have not been any reported break-ins since that incident.
