Noise Complaint Leads to Charges

The party is over for two Westport young people. Police charged Rebecca Tash and Michael Hammer for possession of alcohol by a minor following calls noise complaints from neighbors.

The Westport Police Department was called twice about a loud party on Bayberry Ridge Road. A squad car was sent to tell them to either knock it off or turn it down. When they arrived, officers observed Hammer holding an open container.

Police said they saw several open and closed containers of beer at the party, hosted by Tash.  All of the illegally possessed alcohol was confiscated and destroyed.

Tash and Hammer were only issued charges for the possession and not the noise.

Other arrests in the past few days include the warrant arrest of Lee Bates. He was served the warrant stemming from multiple third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny charges. Serving the warrant wasn’t hard, Bates was appearing in the Norwalk court at the time on other charges.

Another easy one for the police, Keith Burke, of Bethel, turned himself in. A warrant was out for his arrest in relation to some fraudulent refund transactions at the Westport Williams-Sonoma to the tune of $32,000 over time. Burke gave himself up when he heard about the warrant.
