Lock Car Doors, Even in Driveway

Because your car is parked in your driveway doesn't mean it's immune to theft.

A series of vehicle break-ins has Weston Det. Carl Filsinger warning residents to keep their car doors locked.

Two White Birch Road residents reported Aug. 2 that the theft of Ipods, a wallet, checkbook and computer from cars sitting in their driveways overnight. The cars were not locked.

Two days later a Great Hill Road resident reported that tire changing equipment had been stolen from the trunk of a parked, unlocked car in the driveway.

Then on Aug. 6, a resident of Deer Path Road told police that a window of a car parked in the driveway had been broken and an Ipod and wallet were taken.

Filsinger's advice: Remove valuables and lock car doors. He also suggests installing driveway sensor lights and car alarms.
