If you've ever wanted to see a Shirley Temple costume first-hand, or touch Scarlett O'Hara's picnic dress from the opening scene of "Gone With the Wind," now's your chance at the Easton Library.
Through Aug. 30, you can see costumes, set designs, headdresses, masks and wigs created by locals at the library's "Theater Arts Come Alive."
"It broadens your mind, enriches your life, gets you thinking outside of the box and breaks up the monotony of the boredom of life," said Kevin Costello, a visitor on opening night.
A reception on July 7 kicked off the showcase with appearances from theater world well-knowns such as artist Suzanne Benton and Tony Award-winning set designer Leo Meyer and such local costume artists as Eastonite Heidi Erspamer. Many supporters came dressed in theatrical attire. The Kochiss Twintets entertained with live music.
Dolly Curtis, who does the talk show "Back Stage Buzz" every third Sunday at 10 p.m. with Meyer on WPKN, said she wanted to bring recognition to the wonderful costume designers in the area. She said the exhibit is all about "celebrating the imagination and creativity of theater I have come to know."
