Easton Runner Top Female at Weston 5K

WESTON, Conn. - Easton's Meredith Anand finished first among females at the Weston Memorial 5K Road Race with a time of 18:39 that was sixth best among all runners.

"It's not an easy course, but it's fun and well organized," she said. "It was hot and humid and I didn't push it too much and ran a faster time last year."

Anand, 33, has been the Weston 5K's top female finisher the past three years. The physical therapist with two children said she runs 5K and 10K races.

Bryan Kovalsky, 33, from Ridgefield, won the men's race with a time of 16:06 with Weston's Stephen Vento, 19, a former track star at Weston High School, placing second in 16:18.

The race started and ended at Weston High School.

The top three  male and female finishers won cash prizes and awards were given out to the top three male and female finishers in a variety of age groups, from under 10 to over 70.

A Kids' Fun Run was the day's first event, with kids running 1-mile and 100-meter races on the Weston High School track.

An enthusiastic crowd was on hand to cheer on the runners, with an awards ceremony in front of the high school after the race.
