With the days seemingly getting longer now that the kids are out of school, you could probably use some ideas for a little family fun. A swim at Weston's Bisceglie-Scribner Pond could be one answer.
The pond opened June 19 and is accepting permit applications now for Weston residents. Fees are about $60 for families ($5 for anyone 5 years or older) and $30 for an individual. Those under 5 and 60 and older get in free.
The 53.5 acre park on Newtown Turnpike near Cobb's Mill Inn has a picnic area, a fitness trail donated by the Kiwanis Club, a playground for the kids donated by the Weston Young Woman's Club, and three Little League fields in addition to the pond.
There's also a rest room and changing area, picnic tables, soda and snack machines, and office on site.
Though the park is open year-round, the pond will be open to pass holders only through Labor Day. The pond is open from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Swimming is permitted only when a trained, certified lifeguard is on duty.
