Curtain Rises on Broadway Bound Class in Easton

Interested in acting? Perhaps the Broadway Bound class offered at the Easton Community Center is right for you. For eight weeks, Caitlin O'Keefe will be teaching a course to help kids develop strong acting and vocal foundations.

The course is aimed at developing a confident sense of creativity, imagination and audition. Additionally, the course will teach the basic fundamentals of theater, including singing, acting and dance.

At the end of the eight weeks, students will participate in a small workshop performance that will include staged musical numbers from Disney, as well as past and current Broadway shows. Students will also be entitled to audition for the Main stage show.

O'Keefe is in her last semester at Fairfield University, working on her master's degree in education. She has been involved in musical theater for 15 years and was one of the first non-music majors to perform a Senior Recital at the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College.

The class from 9:15 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays will be for kids ages 6 to 9. The eight-week session is $200 for members, $220 for nonmembers. The class from 10:45 a.m. to noon, for the same prices, is for kids ages 10 to 13.
