9/11 Motorcycle Ride to Pass Through Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – The 10th annual Connecticut United Ride, a 60-mile motorcycle trip through Fairfield County honoring the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, will make its way through Westport Sunday morning. And police warn it could cause traffic tieups.

The ride will kick off at 11:30 a.m. from Norden Park in Norwalk and travel north along Saugatuck Avenue, Riverside Avenue and Wilton Road before making its way into Wilton. Because the ride attracts more than 2,000 riders, Westport Police are advising residents who planned on traveling along these roadways around 11:30 a.m. to consider alternate routes.

Motorists should anticipate delays up to a half hour or more while the riders travel through Westport, police said.

The ride travels through a total of 11 towns and cities. From Westport, it continues through Wilton, Georgetown, Redding, Bethel, Newtown, Monroe, Trumbull and Fairfield, ending in Bridgeport. For more information about the event, visit the CT United Ride Website.
