Gayle Weinstein may be the first selectman in Weston, but Peter B. is the mayor.
Saturday is Foursquare Day. Why? Because April is the fourth month and 16 is four squared. This is a day to get out of the house and connect with other people by checking in at different locations using a smartphone app.
Forty people have checked in to Weston 254 times. Peter B. has checked in to Weston 38 times. As of Friday afternoon, Peter B. was listed as the mayor of three other places as well: Home, Spitfire Interactive in Westport and Varmax in Port Chester, N.Y.
Jodi S. is the mayor of the Lunch Box with one check-in in the past 60 days. A total of 21 people have checked in to the Lunch Box 35 times.
Foursquare users collect points and virtual badges for each check-in and can battle to be the mayor of an area by checking in more than anyone else within 60 days. There are more than 8 million Foursquare users worldwide, adding around 35,000 new users each day, according to its website, Foursquare.com. There are more than 2.5 million check-ins each day, with more than a half-billion check-ins in the last year.
