Westonites Can Warm Up for a Good Cause

WESTON, Conn. – Westonites can warm their bodies - and the homes of needy residents - during the fifth annual Christmas Tree Bonfire Saturday.

Every year, the community gathers at Emmanuel Episcopal Church to watch dozens of donated Christmas trees and wreaths are set aflame by the Weston Volunteer Fire Department. Proceeds from the event go to the Weston Warm-Up Fund, which helps cover the heating costs of needy Westonites.

Church members will pick up trees from residents in return for a suggested $30 contribution. Out-of-towners can also drop off their tree for a $20 donation.

The fundraiser collected nearly $3,400 last year. Anyone interested in donating can make checks payable to the Weston Warm-Up Fund. For further information, call 203-227-8565 or email office@emmanuel weston.org.

The church is located at 285 Lyons Plain Road, and the bonfire is set to begin at 6 p.m. sharp.
