Kids Settle Down for Popcorn and PJs

Children came to the library Monday night wearing something unusual—their pajamas. The youngsters came with their blankets to watch "How to Eat Fried Worms," the first of two films shown by the Friends of the Weston Library in July. The program was started 3 years ago by Mary Welsch-Lehmann.

"The Sword in the Stone" will be shown on July 19 from 6 to 7:30, but the film on the 26 had to be cancelled because of schedule conflicts. Parents are asked to remain in the library while the movie is being shown.

"They've had a very busy day doing a sports camp and they've been playing around outside and I just thought it'd be good to bring them indoors and watch a movie as opposed to sitting in front of a TV at home also amongst their friends," said Jeanette Graham, who caught up on her reading in the lobby while her children enjoyed the film.

This is the third year the program has been run. "We felt there aren't enough programs for the very young children, especially in the evenings or in the afternoons ... Then we all remembered the camp days when you used to do pajama movies," said Marina Coprio of the Friends of the Weston Library. " I think the kids enjoy it."
