WESTPORT, Conn. — Spoons up!

It’s time for the 10th annual Chowdafest, your chance to sample from a whopping 40 different bowls of bivalves — as well as a few rogue veggie entrants — and decide which soup reigns supreme.

The fun runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 1, at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport.

Each ticket holder is given a spoon, a ballot and a pencil and sent off to enjoy unlimited samples of hot and hearty hopefuls from chefs and restaurants all over New England and beyond.

You be the judge in all five categories — Classic New England Clam Chowder, Traditional Chowders (Manhattan/Rhode Island), Creative Chowder, Soup/Bisque and new-this-year Vegetarian.

Fairfield County will be well represented with entrants including BRYAC, Mr. Crab, TruNorth Tavern & Table and Hub & Spoke of Bridgeport; Blind Rhino, Bobby Q’s Cue & Co., Knot Norm’s Catering Co., Harbor Harvest, Saltwater and Sedona Taphouse of Norwalk; Crave, Old Post Tavern, Chef’s Table, Geronimo and 348 Oyster Bar of Fairfield; Sam’s and Crab Shell of Stamford; Dunville’s, Tarry Lodge and Rothbard Ale & Larder of Westport; Rory’s of Darien; Bailey’s Backyard of Ridgefield; and Harvest Wine Bar of Greenwich and Westport.

But Chowdafest is about so much more than chowder.

Participants may enjoy the Italian-themed “Ciao”dafest featuring samples of artisan breads, premium sauces, salads and more. Or sample some of the salsas and chips at the ChowdaMex section.

Farm-fresh ice cream, yogurt and cheese will be available in the Sweet Treats area and you can quench your thirst at the non-alcoholic Beverage Bog.

Bringing the kids? Head over to the — wait for it — “Little Necks” area where youngsters will decorate free chef hats and more.

Heck, there’s even a Canine Cafe with free treats for your pooch.

Chowdafest supports Norwalk-based Food Rescue US, Kids Helping Kids and Friends of Sherwood Island.

Tickets are $20, $15 if you’re a AAA member. Kids 6 to 12 get in for $5. Parking is free and there are even train and hotel deals.
