His latest book, "The French Chef in America: Julia Child's Second Act," is a biography of Child's life after the publication of her masterpiece: "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." It has been referred to as a sort of sequel to the memoir Prud'homme co-authored with Child, "My Life in France," which provided inspiration for the 2009 movie, "Julie and Julia."
Of course, people in the audience wanted to know what it was like to dine with the famous gourmet cook, and Prud'homme was able to share some stories of his experiences with her. He not only spoke about dining out in top restaurants in her company, but also what it was like to have dinner with her at home, where she was often trying out recipes for her books and TV shows.
Prud'homme also read selected passages from the new book, and signed copies for those who purchased the book after his talk.
