WESTPORT, Conn., -- Legislators will speak about the state's affairs during an event Wednesday hosted by the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce and the Connecticut Business and Industry Association.

All five legislators from Westport and Weston, Senator Toni Boucher [R] 26th district, Senator Tony Hwang [R] 28th, Representative Jonathan Steinberg [D] 136th, Representative Gail Lavielle [R] 143rd and Representative John Shaban [R] 135th will be taking part in this event. It will be held at the Westport Library at 10:30 a.m. in the McManus Room.

The open forum will be moderated by Matthew Mandell the Executive Director of the WWCC.

“I’m pleased that all of our elected officials are coming to share their thoughts and vision,” Mandell said. “This is a great opportunity for our business people and residents alike to come ask questions and see how they will be represented.”

Nicole Cline, Public Affairs Specialist with the CBIA, said it's important for businesspeople to interact with their legislators.

“CBIA is the largest state-wide business organization working to make Connecticut economically competitive and a top state to do business in,” she said. “It's important for businesses, large and small, to connect with their legislators and express their points of view so we can work to make Connecticut a place with endless opportunities. This event is an excellent way of doing just that.”

This is the fifth semi-annual update to keep the local and business community informed about issues affecting them at both the state and regional level.

Residents, business people and of course all members of the WWCC are invited to come and participate by asking questions during this open forum. There will be coffee and baked goods will be provided at this free morning event.
