Two advisories are in place, warning Fairfield County residents of the dicey weather on Monday, the National Weather Service said:

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in place until 1 p.m. Monday.

That means snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected. Residents should plan on slippery road conditions. Tree branches could fall as well due to strong winds. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze are expected in inland areas. Less snow is expected along the caostline.

Snow and sleet may briefly become heavy with strong winds between 5 and 9 a.m.

A Wind Advisory is in place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.

Fairfield County residents should expect winds out of the west at 25 to 35 mph, with strong gusts up to 55 mph.

The winds will be strong enough to blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Decorations may also be blown down. Scattered power outages are expected.

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for larger vehicles, in open areas, and on elevated roads and bridges. Drivers are urged to use extra caution.
