Redding Roads Reopen As Metro-North Completes Track Work

REDDING, Conn. — Residents of Redding will be happy to know that Simpaug Turnpike and Topstone Road reopened to through traffic on Thursday, according to Redding police.

Drivers are warned to watch out for additional Metro-North track work in that area. ‬

And the track will continue along the Danbury Branch. 

Next up for the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the rail crossing at Honey Hill Road in Wilton. The work start on Friday, April 7, and continue for a week.

Though the project will only require the closure of the rail crossing in Wilton, service to several other communities along the Metro-North Railroad’s Danbury Branch will also be affected. 

There will be no train service between Danbury and Norwalk on Saturday, April 8, or Sunday, April 9.

During that weekend, Danbury branch commuters will be put on buses provided by Metro-North. 

Train service should return by April 10.

Detour signs will be posted in the area of Honey Hill Road. Drivers, along with others in the area, should also be ready for “an increase in noise levels” in the area, officials said.

The work at the rail crossing – described by Metro-North officials as an “upgrade” -- is scheduled to conclude by 4 p.m. Thursday, April 13.
