19: 88 New Cases Reported At Sacred Heart University
As COVID-19 continues to surge across Connecticut and the rest of the country, Sacred Heart University is transitioning to remote learning after receiving reports of dozens of new cases. University officials announced over the weekend that there have been 88 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 66 students on campus, 21 off-campus, and one staffer. The new surged in classes forced the University to transition to remote learning beginning on Monday, Nov. 9 through the rest of the semester. The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has updated previously released guidelines for Thanksgiving during the COVID-19 pandemic. "Unfortunately, the COVID-19 epidemic is worsening, and small household gatherings are an important contributor to the rise in COVID-19 cases," the agency said in a statement released Monday, Nov. 9. "Traditional Thanksgiving gatherings with family and friends are fun but can increase the chances of getting or spreading COVID-19 or the flu." With COVID-19 cases on the rise throughout the country, restrictions are being tightened in Connecticut to help curtail the spread of the virus. Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont announced that as the state rolls back into “Phase 2.1,” gatherings will be limited to no more than 10 people as the number of municipalities in the COVID-19 “red zone” continues to rise. Bad news for those looking to get an early start to Black Friday. All Walmart stores will be closed Thanksgiving Day this year, the company announced, noting its employees have stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sam's Clubs stores will also be closed, the company said. Walmart hasn't yet announced times for Black Friday shopping.

After responding to a Thanksgiving Day trespassing complaint, the Norwalk Police Department helped a man get a hot meal rather than arresting him. Officers Kelly Had and Ariel Martinez responded to the initial complaints of a trespasser inside the location.
