Stolen Car Chase Leads To Three-Vehicle Crash, Injuring Six, Causing Near Eight-Hour Closure A police chase of a stolen SUV ended in a three-vehicle overnight crash in Hamden early Tuesday morning, state police said. The crash, which occurred around 2:15 a.m. Jan. 1, caused the closure of Route 10 (Dixwell Avenue) between 2nd Street and Putnam Avenue for almost eight hours near the Putnam Place Shopping Center. The stolen vehicle, a 2012 Honda Pilot operated by 19-year-old Jonathan Garcia of New Haven, failed to stop for police when signaled to do so on State Street in North Haven, starting the pursuit, state police said.
