Investigation Underway After Monument At Darien Police Department Is Vandalized
Darien Police Chief Donald Anderson called the vandalization of a monument honoring the line of duty deaths of two town police officers "cowardly and malicious." The stone memorial, which sits outside of police headquarters at 25 Hecker Ave., was discovered on Tuesday, Aug. 18 defaced with what police said are "wax 'paintballs.'" Darien Police Welcome New Officer
The Darien Police Department has welcomed a new member to its ranks. Matthew Ackerman has been hired by the Darien Police Department after serving seven years with the Stratford Police Department, where he was a member of the dive team, helicopter team, and certified as an EMT. Darien Police Sgt. James Palmeri said that Ackerman currently has an associate’s degree from Housatonic Community College and is currently enrolled at UConn, where he is continuing his education. Captain Donald Anderson Named Darien's New Chief Of Police
Captain Donald Anderson has been named Darien Chief of Police. He will take over as the Darien Police Department’s 11th Chief of Police when Chief Ray Osborne retires at the end of the summer, according to the Darien Police Commission. Anderson has been a member of the Darien Police Department since 1983, and currently holds the position of Captain of the Administrative Services Bureau. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1999, Lieutenant in 2000, and to his current rank of Captain in 2013. He has also served as a member of the Detective Division and as a member of the …
