Douglas Vane, Longtime Police Sergeant In Fairfield County, Dies A Westchester native who was a longtime police officer in Northern Fairfield County has died. He was 75. Retired Brookfield Police Department Sergeant Douglas Neil Vane, a native of Yonkers, died peacefully at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 13.  After serving as an MP in the U.S. Army, Vane worked as a police officer for 35 years, served as Chief of the Candlewood Lake Patrol and served an additional 5 years as a special officer, according to the Brookfield Police Department.  He was active in the police union and the Police Benevolence Association and served as a patrol supe…

He finished his career with 1,231 points, 30th on UConn’s all-time list, according to NBC CT. Robinson was born in Birmingham, Alabama. 22-Year-Old From Fairfield County Found Dead At Southern Connecticut State University The body of a 22-year-old Fairfield County man was found dead on the campus of Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. Brookfield resident Sean Gallo was found unresponsive in his vehicle that was parked in the West Campus Parking Garage at approximately 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, school officials said. Gallo was later pronounced dead. No foul play is expected in his death. Missing College Physics Student, 21, Found Dead In New York City A body pulled from the East River has been identified as a 21-year-old University at Albany physics student. John Carlos Garcia-Mendez, a resident of New York City, was found in the water near the Manhattan Bridge. Garcia-Mendez’s death is not considered suspicious, Albany Police said, noting he may have traveled to the city from Albany and there were no signs of trauma.
