Masuk Athletic Director John DeGennaro told the Monroe Courier that the school's athletes have been at a competitive disadvantage for some time due to other schools playing on artificial turf, said the Monroe Courier.
The field, approved by voters by an overwhelming margin -- 1,231 Yes votes to 492 No votes -- will have a shock pad under the turf to help ward off injuries and will be made of coated sand and organic filler rather than rubber chips, added the Monroe Courier.
