The Region 9 school district serves Easton and Redding.

The school district's budget seeks the elimination of four teaching jobs and an administrator, but the special education portion of the budget request is $1.1 million more than the current budget, reported the Redding Pilot.

The increase is attributed to more special education students going into the high school from the district's middle schools, said the Redding Pilot.

School board member Todd Johnston expressed shock at the "high number" of the budget increase, the Pilot said.

A Region 9 Board of Education budget workshop is set for Tuesday, March 1, said the Redding Pilot.
