Zamary will replace interim Superintendent John Battista, who is retiring at the end of the 2017-18 school year, the Monroe Courier reported. The Board of Education had formed a search committee about two months ago after Battista announced his retirement, but before hiring an outside consultant to search for a replacement, they interviewed Zamary and found him to be the perfect match, according to the Courier.
Zamary is a resident of Newtown who joined the Monroe Public Schools district in 2012. He served as the district's Director of IT and Operations before being promoted to assistant superintendent earlier this year.
He will officially become the superintendent on July 1, 2018, according to the Monroe Courier.
