The USED's Blue Ribbon School Program is an annual award bestowed on schools across the nation for high academic performance or greatest progress in achievement gap closure among subgroups. Masuk High is one of four schools in the state to be recognized this year.

On Sept. 29, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and State Education Commissioner Dianna R. Wentzell celebrated the teachers, students and communities from the four Connecticut schools in New Haven, Monroe, Storrs and Wolcott that were named as 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools.

"All students deserve access to a great education that prepares them for success in college and career. These four schools are receiving that recognition for their efforts to engage students and set them on the path to a bright future," Malloy said. "We have worked tirelessly to improve outcomes for students and deliver support to schools that need it most. We offer our congratulations to the teachers, parents and students from these schools on their success and this distinctive national recognition."
