Linda Champagne heads up the Chew Crew initiative that she says pushes good nutrition and health eating. The 140 member group's main goal is see changes to the menu in the school district's cafeterias where they are pushing for the school to have a chef, buy food locally, cook the food at the school and, someday, even grow their own food, said the Easton Courier.
The other goal of the Chew Crew, which is made up of Staples and Helen Keller Middle School parents and Easton residents, is to share information about everything from genetically modified food and using organics to healthy eating that will fuel children through the day, the Easton Courier reported. They hope that one day the school board will listen and take their suggestions to the lunch room, added the Easton Courier.
