The increase pushes the proposed budget to just under $175 million, the Post said.

While the education budget stayed at Herbst's proposed $108.7 million, the police budget was cut by just over $161,000, eliminating two vacant positions and adding a third school resource officer, reported the Connecticut Post.

The proposal will now go to the Town Council for final approval, the Post noted.
