Shaban has been working with the Connecticut Department of Transportation, to get a traffic sign installed at the intersection by the reservoir in Redding due to the dangerous nature of the intersection.
The new sign will be added to the existing stop sign, warning drivers at the stop sign heading south that “Oncoming Traffic Does Not Stop.”
Based on the current DOT project schedule, it is anticipated the work will be completed by July 2016.
“I am pleased by the DOT’s quick response to my request. Both I and others have witnessed near collisions for years at this intersection because it looks to be a three way stop,” said Shaban. “The sign should ensure that drivers take pause, instead of assuming that the oncoming traffic will stop.”
Shaban represents the 135th district of Easton, Redding and Weston.
