The spending plan represents a 1.75 percent increase over the current fiscal year, the MonroeCourier.com reported.

The finance board trimmed the Town Council’s original proposal by about $300,000, citing a reduction in school maintenance costs and other savings, the story said.

According to the town’s website, voting on the budget referendum will take place at the following locations:

  • District 1: Fawn Hollow Elementary School, 345 Fan Hill Road.
  • District 2: Stepney Elementary School, 180 Old Newtown Road.
  • District 3: Monroe Elementary School, 365 Monroe Turnpike.
  • District 4: Masuk High School, 1014 Monroe Turnpike.

Absentee ballots are available at the town clerk’s office, which will be open extra hours on Saturday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to noon to issue those ballots.

Anyone with any questions about their eligibility to vote, can call the Registrar of Voters Office at 203-452-2820.
