MONROE, Conn. -- Democratic Town Council Member Dan Hunsberger announced he will run for Monroe First Selectman this year, according to The Monroe Courrier.
Hunsberger has a long resume of public service. He retired as a captain from the Stamford Fire Department after 40 years of service. He was also the city's director of Emergency Management.
Hunsberger will run against Republican Town Committee’s candidate Ken Kellogg, The Monroe Courrier reported.
Incumbent Steve Vavrek, who has served as First Selectman since 2009, said he won't be seeking re-election in November.
