On Aug. 10, two people cashed fraudulent checks for $400 and $556 from the account of Monroe Coffee LLC, which owns the Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin-Robbins on Route 25 in Monroe, according to the Monroe Courier. An investigation revealed that 13 checks had been cashed fraudulently from the account, totaling more than $4,000, the Monroe Courier reported.
Police were able to identify two of the people involved in the scheme as 36-year-old John Edward Kelly Jr., and 27-year-old Neeshyra Davis of New Haven, according to the Monroe Courier. Warrants were issued for the two and they turned themselves in last week. Kelly was charged with third-degree forgery and sixth-degree larceny, and Davis was charged with third-degree forgery and fifth-degree larceny, according to the Monroe Courier.
More arrests could be forthcoming in the case, according to the Monroe Courier.
