Officers received an anonymous tip via the Internet about the party shortly after midnight Sunday, police said.
They went to a home on White Plains Road and confirmed that there was a large gathering of people under the age of 21 who were drinking alcohol on the premises, police said.
Officers also found evidence of a drinking party inside the home, police said.
The partygoers, who were in and around the home, began to flee, police said. Officers made contact with numerous minors, and most identified themselves as students at Sacred Heart University in nearby Fairfield, police said.
Officers stood by as the partygoers set up rides, police said.
Konrad Nevers, 21, of Suffield, was determined to be the host of the party, police said. Connecticut’s hosting law makes it illegal for anyone in control of a residence to permit minors to consume alcohol on the premises.
Nevers told officers he lives at the home and was identified as being related to the owners, police said.
Nevers was issued a summons and released at the scene on a promise to appear in court Nov. 28.
Trumbull Police will follow up by notifying the university and the homeowner.
