Trumbull Man Left Kids In Car With Motor Running At Mall, Police Say

TRUMBULL, Conn. — A 33-year-old Trumbull man was arrested after he left three children under the age of 12 alone in a locked car, with the motor running, in a parking lot at the Connecticut Post Mall on Saturday, Milford police said.

Police were called at 5 p.m. Saturday  to the Connecticut Post Mall at 1201 Boston Post Road on a report of unsupervised children in a car. 

The police investigation led to the arrest of Devon Brown, 33, of 22 Horseshoe Drive, Trumbull. The three children left alone are ages 10, 6, AND 22 months old, police said. 

The were left in the locked, running vehicle alone for about 20 minutes while he was inside the mall, police said. 

Police also found two active arrest warrants for Brown, who is accused of failing to appear in court on July 3, stemming from two motor vehicle arrests in Trumbull on April 17 and May 6, police said. 

He was charged with leaving a child under 12 unsupervised and two counts of failure to appear in court. His bond was set at $1,500 for a court appearance on Aug. 1.
