The first alarm was about the odor of smoke in the area of Edison Road and Mooreland Road. Rescue 100 responded with a crew of six firefighters, the post said.

Upon investigation, crews located a pile of brush and debris burning behind a home on Ruth Street. Units extinguished the blaze and returned to quarters, the fire department said.

Shortly after dinner, a crew was dispatched to Allan Drive for an odor of smoke inside a home. Again, Rescue 100 with a crew of six and Trumbull Car 2 responded to the scene.

Crews conducted an investigation and found nothing wrong. The odor was blamed on fire pits in the area.
