The Emergency Medical Technician course is designed for people interested in learning more about Emergency Medical Services. Upon successful completion of the class, students will be eligible to take the state certification exam.
As an Emergency Medical Technician, students possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide basic life support to those who are sick or injured in a pre-hospital setting. Certified Emergency Medical Technicians work on ambulances alongside other EMTs and Paramedics. Many certified EMTs use their skills in other healthcare and public safety jobs and settings.

- Traumatic Emergencies
- Pediatric/Geriatric Emergencies
- Childbirth/OBGYN Emergencies
- Vehicle extrication/Hazmat Emergencies
- Mass Casualty Incidents/WMD
The class is offered to those interested over the age of 16. For parents with any questions, contact EMS Instructor and Chief of EMS, Joseph Laucella at 203-452-5146. Seating is limited to the first 20 students who are paid in full. All registrations and payment should be received by Jan. 9.
Class tuition is $950 ($850 for Trumbull resident with proof of residency), which includes a book, CPR Card and class polo shirt. Students will need to wear Blue EMT Cargo Pants and black boots to practical sessions and clinical rotations. Each student will be provided a polo shirt that will be required to be worn on identified practical sessions and at clinical rotations.
The class will start Jan. 19 and conclude April 14. The class will meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Trumbull EMS headquarters at 250 Middlebrooks Ave. in Trumbull.
