TRUMBULL, Conn. — Robert McGowen, who was just elected to the Trumbull Town Council, resigned his seat Monday after it was discovered he was arrested for vehicular homicide that stemmed from a car crash in New Jersey four years ago, according to the Connecticut Post.
McGowen, 29, is due in court Dec. 16 to face second-degree vehicular homicide charges and two counts of fourth-degree assault by auto in connection with the fatal crash in Union County, N.J., the Connecticut Post said.
McGowen, who is a Republican and a real estate agent with William Pitt Sotheby’s in Stratford, was elected to the District 2 Town Council seat, the Connecticut Post said.
