Car owners should lock their cars at night, even if it is parked in their driveway. Do not leave keys or any other valuable items inside.
"It is happening all over our town and all over Fairfield County. Our patrol officers are working tirelessly to stop this and our detectives are working with other departments experiencing the same problem," Monroe Police said.
Thieves have been targeting unlocked cars all over the state, including Stamford, Darien, New Canaan, Trumbull and Greenwich.

Monroe Police said these crimes continue to plague the town and are very active, with the most recent taking place Thursday morning. If anyone sees suspicious activity overnight or discovers a vehicle missing or entered, they should contact the Monroe Police Department at (203) 261-3622.
