Police said that at around 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, they were dispatched to the Westfield Trumbull Mall on a report of a fight. They found mall security guards attending to the 15-year-old boy, who had been assaulted, and learned the boy had been in the mall and had made a rude remark to a 13-year-old girl, police said.
The girl gathered up several of her friends, including the two 14-year-olds. The group confronted the 15-year-old and he ran, police said.
A total of six youths chased him through several stores and outside, where the 13-year-old girl threw a drink onto him and the two 14-year-olds cornered him and began beating him, according to police. Mall security guards arrived and stopped the assault, police said.
During the assault, one of the 14-year-olds took the boy's cell phone out of his pocket and threw it into the grass nearby, where it was recovered by police. The 15-year-old was treated at the scene by EMS. The 13-year-old girl was not charged, and was released to her parents, police said.
The two 14-year-olds were charged with third-degree robbery and third-degree assault, and are scheduled to appear in juvenile court. They were later released to their parents.
