Stephen Wright, 62, was arrested four times in the span of 12 weeks at the beginning of the year on drunken driving charges. He had initially failed to show up for one of his court appearances, but was eventually taken into custody in New Haven. After pleading guilty to four counts of driving under the influence, he was sentenced to 120 days in prison, which he completed on Sept. 8, according to the Connecticut Post.
Once he was released from prison, Wright did not show up for a meeting with his probation officer, at which point officials discovered that he had given them fake contact information, the Connecticut Post reported. The address he gave in Monroe was for a vacant lot, and the phone number he provided was for the state Department of Children and Families, according to the Connecticut Post. A warrant was issued for his arrest in early October.

Someone contacted probation officials on Sept. 21, reporting that they had seen Wright a couple days before drinking at a bar in Stamford and they were afraid he was driving, according to the Connecticut Post. Wright was ordered to undergo substance abuse evaluation as part of his release, and is prohibited from driving, the Connecticut Post reported.
Wright was eventually arrested in Bridgeport and held on a $250,000 bond, and will appear in court on Dec. 1, the Connecticut Post reported. When he was arrested he gave an address in West Haven as his home address, according to the Connecticut Post.
Wright was appointed to the state Board of Education in 2011 by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and reappointed in 2015. The website for the state Board of Education still lists him as a member of the board. He previously served as chair of the Trumbull Board of Education.
